Design & Concept Note
Reading is an exploration of cultures, ideas, and stories that connect us to shared identities. Inspired by the slogan Read and Explore India, the pavilion celebrates India’s storytelling heritage through the symbolism of the peacock—its national bird and a timeless muse in art and literature. The peacock’s iridescent hues reflect the imagination, knowledge, and emotional depth embedded in India’s literary landscape.
Drawing from Mithila painting traditions of Bihar, the visual identity expresses harmony, interconnectedness, and collective creativity. The pavilion becomes a living canvas where books and art unfold like feathers in a peacock’s plume—celebrating India’s diverse voices while reaffirming the unity of its cultural spirit.
